Feel Better Kale Berry Smoothie
This past winter, it seemed that every time I turned around someone in our 5-person family was either getting sick or just feeling run down. Knowing how berries are jam-packed with antioxidants and kale is chock-full of vitamins A & C (those immune-boosting nutrients), and remembering that ginger is known as a natural healing superfood, I just put the three together (along with a few others!) to create a “feel better” smoothie.
And, for us…IT WORKED!
Even my daughter š±š¼āāļø, who is not completely plant-based and not generally a lover of smoothies ( seriously…what?), loved this one so much that she actually asked me to make it for her the next time she was feeling something coming on. WINNING!
Here’s how simple and easy it is to just “feel better”:
Feel Better Kale Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped kale substitute spinach
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger - sliced
- 1 cup soy or almond milk substitute any nut milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp ground flaxseed optional
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a NutriBullet or high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
- Enjoy and feel better!

Thank you for this – I really want to add more smoothies into my morning routine. Do you ever use any plant based proteins?
Hi Carrie…thanks for checking out VIR!! I don’t typically add protein powder to my drinks because I try to get most of it through the food I eat. With that said, I will sometimes add cooked grains to my smoothies (think cooked rice or quinoa or farro), which brings a tons of protein, and it doesn’t change the flavor. More on this in an upcoming post!
I’m definitely making this! I love smoothie recipes and fruit and veggie mixes are my fave!
Yay! These smoothies are so yummy…and I have more recipes on the way!
So happy to have come across your recipe. I’ve tried a number of green smoothies with not so great results. Can’t wait to try this one! Thanks
Thanks Cathy! I love this one…the ginger and berry combo is so refreshing!
